Mount Stewart

Situated on the shore of Strangford Lough in Co Down, the 1,000 acre Mount Stewart is one of the UK’s most celebrated National Trust properties. It's famous Spanish and Italian gardens were recently voted in the top 10 to see in the world, the mild Strangford climate enabling the plants to thrive. These gardens, the Neo-classical house, beautiful lake, glorious views across Strangford Lough and new trails combine to make it an outstanding venue for Waggy Races VIII!

Tails on new trails

The National Trust has recently acquired an additional 800 acres  and is in the process of creating a new trail network – Waggy Races will be the first event to showcase these beautiful new trails and views.

The route

The 5k route will start on the lawn by the Mount Stewart house, do a lap of the lake before hitting the new trails, which take in forest paths, streams, stone bridges, a few hills and the Temple of the Winds, before finishing back at the house. The course has glorious views over Strangford Lough, towards Scrabo Tower and on a clear day, the Mourne Mountains.
