The Waggy Races Team

The Lisburn based Waggy Races team was originally Ruth, Neil and our beautiful smiley Samoyed Zola. We sadly lost our hiking, kayaking, beach-loving, ice cream eating celebrity girl Zola in November 2024.

In February 2025, the slightly less hairy, much more rapid, heat seeking Rosa the Whippet joined the team (full name 'Rosa Matilda Ribbons Robinson')!

Neil is a former rugby player from Lisburn who has taken to running and fitness training to remain in some sort of respectable shape since injury ended his rugby playing days.

Ruth is a former track athlete from Enniskillen, who specialised in the 800m. Although it irks him a lot, she is a much better runner than Neil.

Rosa is a stunning brindle whippet.
She is unbelievably fast, is really friendly with dogs and people, loves body heat, chases anything that moves and has a long pointy nose designed specifically for lifting duvets.

Zola was our beautiful Samoyed (Siberian sled dog) and in many ways was the face of Waggy Races as she often got recognised when we were out and about.
She loved hiking in the Mournes and visiting/digging up the beaches of Co Down and the North Coast. Her favourite food was ice cream, steak and tissues/napkins.
We had to be careful to avoid warm temperatures when we took her out for a run or a walk and made sure that she had plenty of shade and water (she drank water directly from a bottle!).
